Collection: Tea & Coffee Accessories

Did you know that most tea bags contain plastic? It's what keeps them from falling apart when you pour boiling hot water over them. I actually remember, years ago, my dad finding old tea bags in the garden that hadn't broken down when he'd composted them. In my mind, I guess you just assume that teabags can go into the compost bin.

There are a couple of brands that do now have compostable teabags, but they aren't always readily available in the supermarket. What you can easily get is loose tea which is plastic free. Drinking loose tea is exactly the same in regards to taste as drinking tea that comes in a teabag!

Plastic free tea or otherwise known as loose tea, just needs to be put into a tea influser, an organic cotton teabag (that can just be washed out) or a loose tea teapot. The loose leaves can then be put either into your compost bin/garden waste bin or directly onto the soil in your garden. It's a really good fertiliser - the same as ground coffee actually!
